Primary Bake Off 2018

12th February 2018

Bake Off stars of the future rose to the occasion in a primary schools’ competition at The Vale Academy.

They had taken part in the popular, annual Vale Bake Off in the autumn term but, this year, the winners in each category were invited back to battle it out for top spot in a grand final.

The competition took place in the food technology room using recipes provided by subject teacher Mrs Smith.

Years three and four baked scones and five and six a Victoria sandwich cakes.

Vision for Education sponsored the event, providing large hampers for the two overall winners.

The four runners up received a £10 gift voucher.

Principal Nicola Williams thanked the pupils and staff of Worlaby, Barnetby, Broughton, Hibaldstow, Kirmington, Scawby and Wrawby primary schools who had taken part in the original event.

“It was a great success with a brilliant turn out and a friendly but highly competitive atmosphere,” said Mrs Williams.

“For the first time, we decided to have a grand final.

“I’d like to thank our team for their work in hosting the events. I know the pupils had a huge amount of fun.

“It also gave them a chance to familiarise themselves with the fantastic food technology facilities we have here at The Vale.”

The original event had also been sponsored by Vision for Education. Charlotte, from the firm, was one of the judges along with staff from The Vale.

The overall winners were Aslene from Broughton (Years Three and Four) and Amy from Barnetby (Five and Six).
