Humberside Schools’ Cross Country

7th February 2018

Eight students from The Vale Academy were selected to represent North Lincolnshire against Hull, East Riding and North East Lincolnshire in the Humberside Schools’ Secondary Cross Country Championships.

The girls all did well but the boys stole the show in the event at Hull University Playing Fields, Inglemire Lane in Hull.

Joe Hare finished second and Reece Wray (Year 10) 11th. Reece received a selection letter for the English schools’ National Cross Country Competition.

PE teacher Nicola Hewitt, who accompanied the students, said that was “a huge achievement”.

A change of format this year meant only the top four schools from each district were invited to enter the championships, plus any individual who finished in the top 15, not members of those teams.

Principal Nicola Williams was pleased The Vale was asked to represent North Lincolnshire.

“I would like to add my congratulations to all our students who took part,” she said.

“The whole team performed exceptionally well. I’d also like to thank the staff who took and supported our students.
