The Vale was delighted to host Brigg Scouts on Monday evening and support them as they work towards the Digital Maker and Digital Citizenship badges. This involves them learning about how computers work and creating applications or tools to meet a scouting need. Working with The Vale’s Curriculum Leader for Computing, Mr Damian Burrin, they created a computerised "eCompass" and then looked at its reliability compared to a normal hand held compass. Mr Burrin demonstrated how new technologies are not always an improvement and some of the dangers/risks relying on electronic devices while on outdoor activities. They also designed some personalised keyrings, so the scouts have modelled and created a 3d object
Next week they will look at the components of a PC and how it works and will be creating websites to demonstrate the skills.
Well done to all scouts who participated; it was an excellent evening.
