Victorious students returned to The Vale Academy after being crowned champions at the Delta Academies’ Games for the sixth successive year. 

The under 15 and under 13 teams beat 12 secondaries from across the Yorkshire and Humber region at the annual athletics event, held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

A thrilled PE teacher Nicola Hewitt said there had been fantastic individual and team performances. 

“We went there as reigning and undefeated champions and maintained our winning record thanks to the efforts of everybody,” she said. 

Principal Nicola Williams was also delighted.

“Congratulations to all the students and staff who brought the winners’ trophy back to The Vale,” she said.

“This cements our fantastic reputation across the Trust for sport. I’m delighted for the students but also the staff. 

“Well done Team Vale!” 

The winning under 13 team were Henleigh, Tom, Will, Dexter, Molly, Imogen, Emily, Paige,
Faith and Katie.

The under 15s team came second, ensuitng The Vale were overall winners. They were Liam,
Josh, Alex, Oliver, Bailey, Leah, Evie, Elizabeth, Amelia and Freya.
